Brain Tumor Center of Seoul National University Cancer Hospital (SNUCH)
Since we performed the first brain tumor surgery at Seoul National University Hospital in 1957, the Brain Tumor Center has been established as the best brain tumor center in Korea performing more than 1,300 brain tumor surgeries and radiosurgeries per year. In addition to our abundant clinical experience, we have become acknowledged as a world-class institution in the field of brain tumors publishing more than 30 papers annually in international journals focusing on basic and clinical research to overcome brain tumors.
Providing a One-stop Multidisciplinary Management System
For more than 20 years, we have pursued the efficient treatment of brain tumors through a multidisciplinary management system that encompasses the departments of neurosurgery, oncology, endocrinology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and neurology. We have the most active multidisciplinary collaborations compared to any institution in Korea. We perform accurate diagnoses and determine the best treatment based on our extensive experience through the “One-stop multidisciplinary management system” with our related medical staff. For patients with primary brain tumors as well as metastatic tumors, we provide treatment at the optimal time through fast and accurate decision-making on surgery, radiosurgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
Determining a careful treatment policy that takes quality of life into account through accumulated clinical experience
Not all brain tumors require treatment. Among brain tumors, there are also benign tumors that progress slowly or stop progressing. Based on the clinical knowledge of the natural history of these benign tumors we have accumulated clinical experience over a long period of time. We consider the quality of life of the patients as our top priority when determining the course of treatment.
