Professor Kyu Joo Park graduated from Seoul National University and has done his training at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). He is currently a professor in the Department of Surgery at SNUH, and Chief of the colorectal surgical division at SNUH. Professor Park’s main clinical interest is in the benign, as well as malignant surgical diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. He has performed more than 10000 operations since 1998, including more than 1800 anal operations. He is also an expert in retroperitoneal sarcomas, hernias, and other general surgical diseases. Professor Park’s main research activity is in the motility of the lower GI tract.

Professor Seung-Yong Jeong is a colorectal surgeon and has a long-standing interest and clinical experience in the management of primary and recurrent colon and rectal cancer. He has special expertise in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer which can offer earlier recovery, less pain and less scar to the patients with colorectal cancer after surgery than those in conventional open surgery. Along with clinical activities, he also has research interest in a cutting-edged technology of minimal invasive surgery such as NOTES (Natural Orifice Endoluminal Surgery) and single port laparoscopic surgery, and hereditary colorectal cancer. In 2014, his group published the result the randomized prospective trial which compared open and laparoscopic surgery in advanced rectal cancer after preoperative chemoradiotherapy in the journal “Lancet Oncology”. He confirmed that laparoscopic surgery is equivalent to open surgery in terms of long-term oncologic outcomes and has benefits in short-term outcomes. It was the world’s first clinical trial which confirmed these results and he was the principal investigator of this trial (COREAN trial).

Professor Seung Bum Ryoo graduated from Seoul National University and has done his training in the Department of Surgery at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). He is currently the clinical assistant professor in the Division of Colorectal Surgery, Department of Surgery at SNUH. Professor Ryoo’s clinical practice focuses mainly on colon cancer, anal disease, lower gastrointestinal disease.

Professor Ji Won Park graduated from Seoul National University and received his M.S. from Chungbuk National University. He has done his residency training in the Department of Surgery at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). He also has done his fellowship training in the Colonoscopy Academy, National Cancer Center (NCC) as well as in the Center for Colon Center, NCC. He was the staff surgeon of Center for Colon Cancer at NCC. He was also the Associate Scientist of Colorectal Cancer Branch at NCC. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Department of Surgery at SNUH. Professor Park’s clinical practice focuses mainly on colorectal cancer, surgical treatment of primary and recurrent colorectal cancer, minimally invasive surgery for colorectal cancer including laparoscopic and robotic surgery, colonoscopy, and hereditary colorectal cancer.

Professor Sang-Hui Moon graduated from Seoul National University in 2001 and has done her residency as well as fellowship training in the Department of General Surgery at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). In 2010, she has finished her course in colonoscopy at the National Cancer Center. From Nov. 2011, she began working at SNUH in both the Health Promotion Center and the Department of General Surgery doing the colonoscopy examination. Professor Moon’s specialty is prevention and treatment through colonoscopy; she is able to provide an early diagnosis as well as early treatment for colon cancer contributing to health promotion.
