Gynecologic Cancer Center of Seoul National University Cancer Hospital
The Gynecologic Cancer Center of Seoul National University Cancer Hospital specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive system cancers including three major gynecologic cancers—cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers—as well as rare tumors such as uterine sarcoma, vaginal cancer, vulvar cancer, fallopian tube cancer, and gestational trophoblastic tumors.
Accurate Diagnosis and Treatment through Integrated Care
The Gynecologic Cancer Center has a multidisciplinary team consisting of staff from the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Radiology, Pathology, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Urology, and Anesthesia and Pain Management. Through multidisciplinary gynecologic cancer conferences, we provide accurate diagnoses and the best treatment to patients.
Personalized Cancer Treatment and Research-Oriented Global Hospital
For early-stage gynecologic cancers, minimally invasive surgeries such as laparoscopic surgery, single-port laparoscopic surgery, and robot-assisted surgery are actively performed. For advanced-stage or recurrent gynecologic cancers, extensive surgical treatments such as total parietal peritonectomy and laterally extended endopelvic resection as well as radiotherapy and personalized systemic treatments including targeted agents and immune checkpoint inhibitors are performed according to the patient's condition. In addition, PARP inhibitor maintenance therapy is actively administered based on genetic and genomic testing results for ovarian cancer patients. Efforts are also made to prevent and detect gynecologic cancers early through genetic counseling for cancer patients and their families. Various clinical and translational studies have been conducted to develop models for early diagnosis and prediction of treatment response and prognosis for gynecologic cancer patients, and the results have been published in leading international journals. The Gynecologic Cancer Center provides opportunities for patients to participate in various multicenter clinical trials of new drugs, and plays a role as a global leader in clinical trial research beyond the best in Korea.
Optimal Treatment for Improving Quality of Life
As interest in quality of life has recently increased, various efforts are being made to preserve quality of life in the management of gynecologic cancers as well. The Gynecologic Cancer Center actively performs fertility preservation surgery and autonomic nerve preservation surgery for patients with early-stage gynecologic cancers. In particular, autonomic nerve preservation surgery is closely associated with patients’ quality of life as it is directly related to their urination and bowel function. The clinical results of autonomic nerve-sparing surgery have been published in leading international journals.
