The Department of Neurology (Cerebral Nerve Center) is a medical department where various diseases of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles are diagnosed and treated.
We provide medical care for neurological diseases such as stroke and cerebrovascular disease, epilepsy, motor conditions such as Parkinson's disease, dementia, intractable headaches, peripheral neuropathy and muscle diseases, Lou Gehrig's disease, autoimmune encephalitis, neurological infection, multiple sclerosis and optic nerve myelitis, and sleep disorder. Patients suffering from headache, dizziness, weakness in limbs, pronunciation disorder, speech disorder, memory loss, dysbasia, convulsive seizure, loss of consciousness, fainting, sleep disorder, hand tremor, or abnormal movement of the limbs can get the treatment they require from our department.
With the recent increase in the elderly population, degenerative diseases (such as dementia, Parkinson's disease, and Lou Gehrig's disease) have been emerging as an important public health problem. The Department of Neurology at Seoul National University Hospital is constantly engaged in clinical and basic research on the treatment and prevention of such diseases. Also, our department strives to provide more accurate diagnosis and treatment through specialized treatment centers such as the Stroke Intensive Treatment room, Epilepsy Intensive Treatment Center, Movement Disorder Center, and Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) Clinic.
