The Division of Infectious Diseases treats not only the patients with infectious diseases caused by various microorganisms, but also patients with unexplained fever and AIDS patients. Recently, the division has been conducting treatment for patients with new infectious diseases such as MERS and coronavirus diseases-19 (COVID-19). Every morning, all professors of the Division of Infectious Diseases gather to discuss the inpatients and patients referred by other departments to ensure that the best treatment is provided. At noon on Monday, the microorganisms isolated from hospitalized patients and their susceptibility are reviewed together with the Department of Laboratory Medicine. In addition, an infectious disease meeting is held every other Thursday to provide education for students and residents. We also support the activities of the Infection Control Center to prevent healthcare-associated infections and supervise the appropriate use of antibiotics.
