Professor SeongKeun Kwon, Awarded ‘Casselberry Award’

Dr. SeongKeun Kwon, a professor of Otorhinolaryngology at the Seoul National University Hospital, received the Casselberry Award at the 2018 Spring Meeting of the American Laryngological Association (ALA). The Casselberry Award is granted annually to an ENT doctor who has done the most outstanding research in the field of laryngology.
This is the first time for a Korean doctor to win this award. Professor Kwon has proved that injection of hydrogel (a gel with water as a solvent) designed to gradually release growth factors into the aging vocal cords regenerates damaged vocal folds and improves vocal quality. In the academia, this research has been regarded as a breakthrough treatment for senile speech disorders.
