Rehabilitation Medicine

Rehabilitation medicine is a medical field that diagnoses and treats patients with various conditions such as cranial nerve disease, peripheral nerve disease, musculoskeletal disease, and cancer treatment. It aims to maximize the patients’ function and ultimately improve their quality of life by approaching their problems from physical, mental and social perspectives and providing whole-person diagnosis, assessment, and treatment.

The Rehabilitation Medicine Department at Seoul National University Hospital is providing detailed and specialized diagnosis and treatment in the fields of cranial nerve rehabilitation, spinal nerve rehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and pain treatment, pediatric rehabilitation, and cancer rehabilitation.

Our rehabilitation therapy room is equipped with various treatment facilities such as an exercise therapy room, thermoelectric therapy room, occupational therapy room, and dysphagia therapy room. Professionally trained therapists perform central nervous system exercise therapy, thermoelectric therapy, occupational therapy, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, and dysphagia rehabilitation therapy in each therapy facility.

Moreover, rehabilitation therapy using advanced equipment such as a walking rehabilitation robot is provided in the robotic therapy room. We are doing our best to prevent nerve damage that may occur during surgery by monitoring nerve signals in real time during brain or spinal cord surgery and providing treatment that improves the motor and cognitive function of patients with brain disease through non-invasive brain stimulations such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.
