Neurology is a department where various neurological disorders are diagnosed and treated in the nervous system such as the brain, spinal cord, nerves, muscles, or neuromuscular junctions. 

We provide medical care for neurological diseases such as cerebrovascular disease (including stroke), epilepsy, sleep disorders, parkinsonism, other movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders (peripheral neuropathy, myopathy, neuromuscular junction disorders, Lou Gehrig's disease, multiple sclerosis and optic nerve myelitis), dementia and cognitive dysfunction such as memory disorders, intractable headaches, autoimmune encephalitis, neuroinfection, and other rare neurological disorders. Patients suffering from headache, dizziness, limb weakness, dysarthria, speech disturbance, memory loss, gait disturbance, convulsion, loss of consciousness, fainting, sleep disturbance, tremor, or abnormal movements can require management in our department.

With the recent increment of the life expectancy, aging reletated disorders (for example, degenerative dementia or other neurodegenerative disorders, risk of cerebrovascular disorders, etc) have emerged as an important public health problem. The Department of Neurology at Seoul National University Hospital has been a center of clinical and academic excellence since 1972. Our department strives to advance diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various neurological disorders through clinical, basic or translational researches.

Our center has clinical facilities for inpatients such as the stroke unit, epilepsy monitoring unit, movement disorder center, several specialized outpatient clinics such as Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS), demyelinating disease (multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica), rare neurological disorders, BOTOX and anticoagulation clinics.
