The Pain Management Center at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH pain management center) provides various treatments for patients with acute and chronic pain. The scope of medical care at our center includes spinal diseases (spine stenosis, post spinal surgery syndrome, herniated disc disease, internal disc disruption, sprain and strain of spine, facet joint syndrome, and cervicogenic headache, etc.), musculoskeletal diseases (degenerative osteoarthritis, tendinitis, myofascial pain syndrome, etc.), neuropathic pain (trigeminal neuralgia, post herpetic neuralgia, fibromyalgia, and complex regional pain syndrome, etc.), and cancer pain (pain after surgery/chemotherapy/radiation therapy, pain caused by the deterioration of underlying degenerative diseases, pain accompanied by neuropathy and shingles, and pain caused by the tumor itself). In addition to medical care for the diseases described above, we also provide various tests and diagnosis for patients with chronic intractable pain and help them receive multidisciplinary treatments through consultation if necessary.
Our center provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for various pain conditions. We identify the cause of pain through various imaging tests, nerve function tests, and laboratory test, as well as a diagnostic nerve block. After diagnosis, medication and neurological treatment are provided. If conservative treatment does not improve the condition sufficiently, then minimally non-surgical treatment or non-invasive intervention is suggested as a solution. For patients with intractable and severe pain disorders, the latest neuromodulation treatments, such as spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug administration, can be provided. Our doctors helped patients return to independence and comfort, and have restored their quality of life.
During the last 30 years, our center has established itself as the best pain management center in Korea in terms of the number of patients and severity of the disease. Taking advantage of these characteristics, we are devoted to education and research as well as medical treatment. We produce a large number of skilled pain specialists every year so that more patients can receive better pain treatment, and we publish high-quality research results. We also are taking a leading role in pain treatment to countries in Asia, including China, Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East, not just introducing advanced pain medicine from overseas to Korea.
All members of the Pain Management Center will do our best to relieve your pain to improve your quality of life.
