Department of Critical Care Medicine
The Intensive Care Medicine consists of adult intensive care units, such as the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Surgical Intensive Care Unit 1 (SICU 1), Surgical Intensive Care Unit 2 (SICU 2), and Cardiopulmonary Intensive Care Unit, and an rapid reponse team (SAVER). It plays a pivotal role in critical care at Seoul National University Hospital.
Trained medical professionals in the intensive care units are responsible for close patient observations, early diagnosis, and intensive monitoring. The rapid response team strives to promote patient safety and improve the quality of medical care by identifying deteriorating patients and delivering prompt initial responses to patients in the wards.
Our department is striving to train medical professionals by providing effective clinical practice opportunities to students of Seoul National University College of Medicine and Nursing, and contributing to cultivating highly-qualified medical teams by cooperating with external medical teams in and outside of Korea who wish to learn the latest trends in intensive medicine for their visits and education.
