Infection Control Center
The Infection Control Center at Seoul National University Hospital is a pioneer in the field of infection control in Korea. It was established and operated in 1979 as the first Infection Control Committee in Korea in 1979. Established as the first Infection Control Office in Korea in 1991, our department is currently composed of the Infection Control Team and the Antibiotic Control Team.
Infection Control Team
1. Introduction
To protect patients and employees from medical-related infections and promote safety, we are responsible for infection control tasks in the hospital including medical-related infection monitoring, epidemiological investigations on outbreaks, the establishment of infection control policies, development of educational materials, and education, research, counseling, and consultation on infection control.

Antibiotic Control Team
1. Introduction
To control multidrug-resistant bacteria through the appropriate use of antibiotics in the hospital, we manage the guidelines on antibiotics use and the preventive use of antibiotics at surgery. We also monitor antibiotics use, and then intervene if necessary.
2. Main Roles of the Antibiotic Control Team
1) Establishment of guidelines for antibiotics use in the hospital
2) Monitoring antibiotic use
3) Restrictive antimicrobial use control
4) CDSS management to improve antibiotic prescription
5) Promotion of the appropriate use of preventive antibiotics at the surgery
6) Provision of information and data for other antibiotics control
