Dr. Kim is a Professor and Neurosurgeon-in-Chief of Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Seoul National University Children’s Hospital and Seoul National University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea. He serves as the Executive Director of Pediatric Nervous System Rare Disease Research Center and a 2nd head of Pediatric Clinical Neuroscience Center. Dr. Kim has trained at Seoul National University College of Medicine with post graduate studies at Seoul National University Hospital. He completed post-doctoral research fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. Dr. Kim is a skillful neurosurgeon and has operated on huge numbers of pediatric patients with neurological diseases. He is interested in clinical research on brain tumor, epilepsy surgery and moyamoya disease. He is also directing basic research on cerebral ischemia and stem cell research for CNS disorders.

Dr. Ji Hoon Phi graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 2000. Thereafter, he was trained as a neurosurgeon in Seoul National University Hospital. Then, he had a fellowship training at the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital (SNUCH) to become a pediatric neurosurgeon. In 2010, he joined the faculty of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery of SNUCH and has continued his career in clinics and research. As a full-time dedicated pediatric neurosurgeon, his main clinical interest is brain tumor, epilepsy surgery, and moyamoya disease. Genomic analysis and finding new therapeutic targets of malignant pediatric brain tumors such as medulloblastoma, AT/RT, and ependymoma are the main subject of his research. Currently, his lab is focusing on the mechanism of leptomeningeal seeding of malignant brain tumors which is the most common cause of death of the patients. Low-grade brain tumor associated with drug-resistant epilepsy is the other main topic of research incorporating brain tumor and epilepsy together. Radio-genomic correlation of low-grade brain tumors is an interesting topic of his research. Finally, moyamoya disease occupies a substantial portion of his clinical and research concerns. Especially, Dr. Phi is highly interested in various diseases associated with moyamoya phenotype, so-called moyamoya syndrome. Combined with genetic studies, this field can open a new

  • DepartmentPediatric Neurosurgery
  • Specialty Spina bifida (meninges, lumbosacral lipoma),   Newborn dimple,   Lower limb rigidity, cerebral palsy,   Craniosysnostosis,   Scalp mass,   Hydrocephalus,   Nervous system malformation,   Arachnoid cyst

Professor Ji Yeoun Lee graduated from Seoul National University (SNU) and has done her training at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH). She was a clinical fellow (2009-2011) and a research fellow (2011-2012) in the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Seoul National University. She was also the research assistant professor at SNUH Biomedical Research Institute. She is currently the assistant professor in SNU College of Medicine.  Understanding of the normal developmental process is a fundamental step in elucidating the basics of human congenital malformation. As a trained pediatric neurosurgeon, Professor Lee focuses her research on secondary neurulation and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics, two of the most important developmental processes with related congenital disorders. The laboratory also seeks to link neural development and neuro-oncology, as ‘aberrant’ developmental processes promotes tumorigenesis.
