The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established for the maintenance and R&D of high-tech medical devices in June 1979. It became the Mecca of its kind and other hospitals started to set up similar departments and those in the field have made a great contribution and shown dedication towards the development of biomedical engineering in Korea.

In this Department, 4 professors and 32 engineers work day and night on the maintenance of medical equipment and R&D of biomedical engineering.
