The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, with a long-standing history and tradition, currently lists 15 faculty members, 9 fellows and 38 residents, and conducts patient treatment together with education for residents, medical students and research activities to provide highquality health care services for women throughout their lifespan. In 2001, it had 80,478 annual outpatient visits including 11,897 new visits and 68,581 re-visits. We carried out 2,112 operations (Obstetrics: 440 cases, gynecology: 1,672 cases) and there were 4,305 inpatients in 2001. In addition, our Department has been carrying out plenty of medical research projects. As a consequence of these efforts, it contributed 82 entries in quality papers and major journals (domestic:56, foreign:26). The Medical students educational programs annually perform 41 hours of lectures and 80 hours of training per student. The Medical training program for residents is continuously engaged in Saturday Seminars, Grand Round, and Journal Club, and weekly conferences according to the division. In close conjunction with pediatrics, pediatric surgery, pathology, therapeutic radiology and diagnostic radiology, we have created the Anomaly Conference, Tissue Conference and Gynecologic Tumor Board. The increased number of applicants for residents and selections in 2001 represents both the quantitative and qualitative improvements in our Department. |
