Seoul National University Dental Hospital has lead the development of Korea's dental care system through education, study, and treatment. It has took part in increasing people's oral health, treating patients, dental clinical education, study and development as a national dental medical facility for about 80 years since it started as Kyeongseong Dental Surgery department's attached dental clinic.

As a result of the current demand due to a rapidly changing medical environment and the opening of the medical market, it separated from Seoul National University Hospital in September 2004 and became Seoul National University Dental Hospital , an independent corporation, to further the scholastic development of dental surgery and standards of service and management of dentistry hospitals and clinics.

The construction of the dental hospital was completed in 1993. Ever since, the clinical study ward has been faithful to its original duties, study, education, and treatment. 70 professors and doctors and 120 residents are  performing treatment on an average of 1,000 outpatients a day since its completion in 1998.

Seoul National University Dental hospital operates 10 treatment departments, 3 special treatment centers, and 3 specialized treatment departments for more specialized treatment.

The medical departments consist of oral medicine, orthognathic radiography, orthognathic surgery, periodontics, conservative dentistry, prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, dental pathology, and dental anesthesia. Seoul National University Dental Hospital is doing its best to provide a professional and efficient medical treatment service through segmentation and specialization of the treatment process, such as the Professors' Unified Treatment Center , Implant Treatment Center , treatment center for SNU students, Orthognathic Malformation Treatment Room, emergency room, and a treatment room for the disabled.

In particular, the Professors' Unified Treatment Center offers a one-stop service where treatment occurs in one place instead of moving from department to department in order to not only minimize the patient's inconvenience, but also to contribute to an increase in the treatment's efficiency.

Recently, the Seoul National University Dental hospital has focused on the establishment of a patient-centric digital medical system through the introduction of state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities to cope with a rapidly changing medical environment due to globalization.
