Introduction

Seoul National University Boramae Hospital was originally established on June 18th, 1955, under the name Seoul Municipal Yeoungdungpo Hospital with the purpose of giving health and medical treatment to the citizens of Seoul, as well as providing medical care to citizens with economic difficulties. In 1987, the city of Seoul and Seoul National University Hospital entered into a contract in which Seoul Municipal Yeoungdungpo Hospital came under the management of Seoul National University Hospital.

In 1991, the hospital was moved to its present location in Boramae Park and new construction began. The name was changed to Seoul Municipal Boramae Hospital .

The hospital has 3 buildings with total area of 4,150 pyeong. The main building, 8 floors high with 2 basement levels, has outpatient, and hospitalization rooms, and department of medical treatment support. The extension building, 5 floors high with two basement levels, houses the Elderly Ward, General Health Diagnosis Center, and a Medical Treatment Support Center . The new building, 6 floors high, has a laboratory for professors, a central laboratory, additional medical treatment offices, nursing ward, administrative branches and large hall.

Seoul National University Boramae Hospital has a total of 720 employees. The medical team has 139 member of medical staff, of which some are also professors at the Seoul National University Medical College, and also 242 nurses, all of which are connected to Seoul National University Hospital. 90 workers provide treatment support, 53 are office workers and engineers, and 196 fulfill other duties.

The purpose of this branch

To contribute to an increase of citizens'medical welfare through a guarantee of medical treatment for low-income citizens, including patients who have no one to support them, and also act as a major figure in the public health of the local community.
