Seoul National University Bundang Hospital (Kang, Heung-Sik, Director), located in Bundang (300 Gumi-dong), Seongnam City, Kyeonggi-do, began its first treatments on the 10th of May, 2003. This hospital branch is connected with the highest level of Korean medical technology of Seoul National University Hospital, and accomplishes the function of a national medical center for adult and elderly diseases, creates the perfect digital medical treatment system, operates special centers according to diseases, and is also a general treatment and emergency center for residents.

Korea is experiencing a rapid increase in the number of elderly people (over 65 years old) and that portion of the population now represents 10.7% of the entire nation.
